Wanna save lives? There’s an app for that!

Apple recently partnered with Donate Life America to unveil the newest feature of the iPhone Health app. Beginning this Fall with the release of iOS 10, individuals can sign up to be organ, tissue, and eye donors in the Health app, making it easier than ever to become a donor. All registrations on the Health app via a secure sign up process will be submitted to the National Donate Life Registry managed by Donate Life America.

“Apple’s mission has always been to create products that transform people’s lives. With the updated Health app, we’re providing education and awareness about organ donation and making it easier than ever to register. It’s a simple process that takes just a few seconds and could help save up to eight lives,” said Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer. “Together with Donate Life America, we’re excited to deliver this new feature to iPhone users in the US with iOS 10.”

The Health app puts the decision of becoming a donor at the fingertips of every iPhone user across the nation. Just a few taps of a finger are all that’s needed to learn about organ, tissue, and eye donation and register.

Every 10 minutes, a new person is added to the list of more than 120,000 Americans awaiting lifesaving transplants. By becoming a donor, you can make a difference. We encourage you to download the iOS 10 update this Fall, open the Health app, and start a lifesaving legacy.
